This Privacy statement outlines the National Action Council for Minorities in Engineering, lnc.' s ("NACME" or "We") privacy practices for the NACME Scholarship's online portal ("Portal") ( within the website. Applicants ("Applicants”), or their parents/guardians if Applicants are under the age of 18 (“You" or “Your"), must acknowledge that they have read, understood, and agree to the terms of this Privacy Statement in order to apply for the NACME Scholarship.

Information Collection, Use, and Sharing

Through the Portal, we collect information that You voluntarily provide through the online form. This will include personal information ("Applicant' s Information”). You must complete the entire online application in order to be considered for the NACME Scholarship; online applications that are incomplete will be deleted after the application deadline.

The information You voluntarily provide through this online application process is used primarily to determine the Applicant's eligibility for a NACME Scholarship and to communicate with You regarding the application and, if selected ("Recipients”), the ongoing scholarship program.  We may also use this information to follow Recipients' academic progress for our own internal research purposes in order to better understand the population we serve as well as other programmatic purposes such as post-secondary education success. Whenever possible, we use aggregate information for these purposes

NACME will not sell or rent Applicant's Information. NACME may share Applicant's Information in limited

circumstances, including when We have Your consent to do so, or when sharing is necessary to protect NACME or comply with the law. NACME may use vendors to assist in storing and processing Applicant's Information as well as with its research ("Authorized Vendors”). All Authorized Vendors will only use the information to fulfill its contractual obligations with NACME.

Access to Applicant's Information is restricted to those individuals who are authorized to view it for specified business purposes ("'Authorized Individuals").

Your Access to and Control Over Information

NACME reserves the right to contact Recipients and retain their Applicant Information during the term of the NACME Scholarship. By contacting us via the email address or phone number listed on the NACME website You can:

  • See what Applicant Information NACME has, if any.
  • Change or correct any personal information
  • Express concern about NACME's use of Applicant Information.

Retention and Security

We retain Applicant's Information only for as long as necessary for NACME to conduct its scholarship program and internal research. NACME then disposes of it commensurate with the sensitivity of the information.

NACME understands that You are entrusting it with Applicant's Information and takes this responsibility seriously. When You submit information via this Portal, Applicant's Information is protected both online and offline. Authorized Vendors provide commercially reasonable data security and encrypt Applicant's Information when in route between Your browser and the online application server and when stored. You can verify this by looking for a closed lock icon at the bottom of Your web browser, or looking for "https" at the beginning of the address of the Portal.

Cookies and Other Customization Tools

NACME may use cookies and other customization tools on the Portal. These tools provide benefits to You, such as allowing us to measure site activity to provide a better user experience, other analytics and "remember me" functions. For example, cookies may be used to tell us the time and length of Your visit, the pages You look at on our site, the searches You perform on our site, the site You visited just before coming to ours, and the name of Your Internet service provider.
